David Chambers

General Manager (Australia & New Zealand)

David is an Environmental, Health and Safety professional with over 18 years experience.  He has Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management.  David is a Certified Industrial Hygienist with the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and a Full Member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygiene, as well as being the Chair of its Ethics and Constitution Committee.

 

David initially commenced his EHS career working as an Industrial Hygienist and Ergonomist at the Duke University and hospital system in the United States.  Returning to his native Australia in 2000, David took up the role of Process Safety and Industrial Hygiene specialist at a Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical company. In 2003, David moved into the role of regional leader for PSM and IH with responsibility in 16 J&J operating companies across Asia and India.  After a period as a facility EHSS Manager, David was selected by J&J to lead EHS efforts for two years on the design and construction of a significant pharmaceutical plant in Xian, China.  Over his career David has worked in EHS roles in projects totalling over $0.5 billion dollars and has facilitated or participated in over 100 PHA studies. 

 

David has conducted and led many successful corporate and system based audits at sites in international locations across Europe, Asia, India and USA and is well experienced with certification systems such as ISO14001, ISO18001 and AS4801.  Recently David became a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s Cannabis Industry Task Force,which aims to develop guidelines to assess and mange the hazards within this emerging industry.

David possesses a high degree of both cultural and emotional intelligence.    He is familiar with working in highly regulated and GMP environmentsand strives to add value by reducing costs while helping to enable a healthy workforce, clean working environments and the ability for businesses to fulfil of all of their regulatory and corporate obligations.
